Tau Gamma is a chapter that was formed with the purpose of joining like men with similar ideas for success through scholarship at Southern Illinois University of Edwardsville.

On April 4, 1965 this idea became a reality. Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. was the first black fraternity established at Southern Illinois University at Edwarsville, and later expanded to help form a chapter at Southern Illinois University at Carbondale in 1971.

Tau Gamma has persevered to be responsive to the social issues in the Metro-east communities by unselfishly displaying its inspirational, social, educational, and civic talents to our youth.
